Jr Worship Band

Jr. Worship Band General Information

Our Philosophy:

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins…Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:8,10.

We are called to love and to serve. By becoming a part of the Jr. Worship Band you are answering that call. Music is a wonderful gift from God, and as with any gift we receive we should use it to bring honor, and glory back to our God. Thank you for sharing your love of music with God and with His children.  God’s love and presence shines through your music, for He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).

What is it?

The Jr. Worship Band leads our preteen ministry, The Bridge, in their worship on Sunday mornings. Each team has at least one guitarist, and vocalists. Lead vocalists are responsible for guiding their team on a Sunday morning. Jr. Band members consist mostly of students 7th grade through college (as well as a few adult leaders) and are required to be active members of Harvest.

Jr. Band commitment is 1 month on, 1 month off. Jr. Band members scheduled for any given month will lead worship at both services on a Sunday morning. If a month contains a 5th Sunday, the Jr. Band assigned to that month is not responsible for leading worship on that particular day. Enjoy your free day!

Currently, practice takes place every other Wednesday, at the Church, at 6:15pm. Practice concludes at 6:45pm. All Jr. Worship Band members should be present at each rehearsal. Allowing us to combine our practices will help ease everyone’s schedules. Additional practices can be added as needed for special events on a case by case basis. It is vital that all Jr. Band members attend practice on Wednesdays. Each member is responsible for bringing his/her own music folder both Wednesday nights, and Sunday mornings.

Note: although we only meet every other week officially for practices, unofficial practice is encouraged. Please practice on your own at home, or hook up with other members to practice. Praising God doesn’t just happen on Sundays; we can lift our music up to Him daily.

“Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” Pslam 32:11

The Jr. Worship Band is student led, which means you have a say in what we do and what we sing. If you have specific songs you want to sing, let Rachel know and we will get the music for it. Your worship should be just that: yours. Feel free to make suggestions, or just bring in your own ideas.

Sunday Morning Info

Jr. Band members are to report to “The Bridge” fifteen minutes before each service at 9:15am and 10:45am. During this time we will set up the stage, and do sound checks. Before service we will gather together briefly to pray for the upcoming service and each other.

Worship takes place during the first 10 minutes of each service (roughly the length of 3 songs). Once worship is concluded Jr. Band members are dismissed back to their respective classes/services. All members are encouraged to be present for one service on a Sunday. If it is not your scheduled month to serve members still need to attend their class/service. As a whole the church body of Harvest is encouraged to attend a service, and to serve a service. Our goal is to love and serve.

Special Activities

As members of our Jr. Worship Band you are greatly appreciated. There will be special events planned for you as a way to say “thank you” and to encourage fellowship and support amongst the members. These may be small, like breakfast on a Sunday morning, or larger like bonfires and barbeques and s’mores. Have a suggestion for an activity you would enjoy? Talk to Rachel!
