Our History
We began in 1996 as a small group of 25 people meeting in a hotel. We moved to schools as we began to grow, using a box truck and trailer to haul everything we needed for classrooms, nursery, staging, sound, and auditorium seating.
We originally thought that we could be more efficient meeting in a school on weekends, but determined soon after that it was God’s will for us to seek our own 24/7 facility. We leased a small building that we shared during the week with a neighboring school. The 5,400 sq. foot building and off street location was better than meeting in schools, but it is not where we need to be.
In 2002, Harvest purchased a 4.2 acre parcel of land in Troutdale, off of Halsey and 257th. Using a “pay as we go” mentality and by doing much of the work ourselves, progress was slow the first several years. We paid off the majority of the land before breaking ground in 2009.
In 2013, Harvest completed a final building fund campaign to “Raise the Roof.” With the offerings given, and a final building loan, Harvest Christian Church has been working faithfully and steadfastly to finish our new facility.
We build by faith and watch to see God magnify our intentions. When we finish it, people will say, “Look what the Lord did through the faithfulness of this small group of people!”
