Why “The Bridge”?
The Bridge is a ministry dedicated to preteens. The Bridge is just that, a bridge between children’s ministry and youth ministry. Preteens are an important group of adolescents who have different needs from first graders and different needs from ninth graders. They are at an “in between” age where they are too old for traditional children’s ministry, but not quite ready for the depth of youth group; and so they often fall between the cracks. Yet the preteen age is vital in the development of their faith. Research shows that more than half of all Americans who accept Jesus as their savior do so before the age of 13, and they remain more steadfast in their faith than those converted later in life. We want to reach kids before they need to be rescued!
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
The Bridge is a place created for our 4th, 5th and 6th graders where we Connect…kids and their families to Christ Serve…each other and the community Love…God and each other
At The Bridge, we take our kids deeper into God’s word through worship, interactive group messages, and small group discussion time. Our goal is to teach, apply, and challenge at an age appropriate level. We encourage our kids to live out the message at home, school, and everywhere they go. Kids learn they are a part of God’s plan, and they don’t have to wait until they are older to spark change in the world.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Sunday Mornings at 9:30 am, we meet upstairs in The Bridge (be sure to check-in at Uptown Kids before you head up). Doors open at 9:15 am. The Bridge meets only during the first service. Attending the 11 am service? We encourage your student to sit with us in the main sanctuary. look for us in the balcony to the left.
We kick off service with rocking worship! Our worship team is student led and is an energetic time of praise and fun. It’s loud, exciting, and meaningful. Our kids know that worship is more than just music and songs; we worship God in every aspect of our lives. We conclude our worship time each week with prayer and communion.
Large Group Message
Our large group time includes a variety of events, such as dramas, games, and interactive teaching. The messages explore biblical truth, and offer practical application for kids in a way they can use every day. Kids will mature in their faith, and learn that the Bible is relevant to their daily lives. Faith doesn’t stop at the door; it is something our kids take out into the world.
We break into small groups at the end of every service. Our small group leaders encourage our kids to take the message to the next level, and facilitate group discussion. Small groups are a great way for kids to make friends and deepen relationships. Kids will tackle issues together in a safe and memorable way. Groups close out each service with prayer.
